Dipped BonesYou will need Milk-Bones and almond bark. Natural based Milk-Bones are always preferred.
Heat up almond bark on the stove top or microwave until it melts. Once it has melted, dip one end of Milk-Bone in almond bark and lay on a flat cookie sheet so it can dry. Then you're done!
Once you bring them back to the shelter, we bag them in little bags and sell them for $1 at the shelter! If you are bagging them yourselves an appropriate amount is about 8 Milk-Bones (medium size) per bag (quantities per bag will vary depending on Milk-Bone size).
Penny WarsThis is a great fundraiser for schools! Each team (or class) has a bucket for collecting coins or dollar bills for a set amount of time. The value of any donation collected by a team, counts towards that team's point total. Every cent counts as 1 point (example: 1 penny = 1 point, 1 dime = 10 points). The object is to be the team with the most points at the end of the "war". After the winner has been determined, the money raised can be donated to the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society as a monetary donation or it may be used to purchase supplies used at our facility. For a full list of accepted items, please refer to our Wish List.
Ideas for Donation DrivesHost a donation drive at your business, school, club, or church! Collect donations of needed items and donate them at the end of your drive. For a full list of accepted items, please refer to our Wish List. Our shelter is always in need of supplies ranging from pet care products to office and cleaning supplies.
When you complete your drive, please bring your donations to the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society during our shelter's open hours. Staff at the front desk can sign off on paperwork or provide a donation receipt for tax deductions.
