You must be a pre-screened adopter with a vet reference to spend time with me.

Hi, my name is Ray! I came to the shelter as a stray so not much is known about me. When I came to the shelter, I had some trouble with my eyes that left me blind. I was that way when I was found so staff are unsure of what happened to cause it; it may have been an injury or I may have been born that way. Either way vet staff was able to make me more comfortable and I am now able to find my forever home! I am very outgoing and love attention. I could spend all day cuddling on your lap. Because of my special needs I should not live with children. Everyone in the home will have to understand how to help me become accustomed to them and their movements. It is also best if I live in a home where the furniture does not move around much. Once I learn my way around my environment I do very well, but it will likely take me longer than other animals to learn where things like my litter box, food, water, beds, and toys are. Once I learn where everything is it is best not to move it or I may become confused again. I don't know how I feel about dogs or other cats. I have hissed when I smell or hear other cats at the shelter, but the staff at the shelter don't know how I would feel if I had to time to adjust with one specific cat. If you have a pet at home, please make sure you introduce us properly and understand that it may take time for us to feel comfortable with each other. The other pets in the home will also need to be able to adjust to my lack of sight and behave accordingly. Staff at the shelter does require that you to have a vet reference before you may spend time with me. I am now neutered, microchipped, received revolution, tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV, and up-to-date on rabies, and started on my vaccinations. I am a special needs cat who will require some extra time to care for and allow to adjust to a new home. But the rewards for the extra work will be ample and my new owners will not regret having me in their life.
